Unique, Stylish, Fabric Coasters for the kitchen.

Looking for another item to make as stocking stuffers? From scraps?  These fabric coasters.  Create them as a set of 4 or 6 with special fabric in mind for that special person.  Do they love pie? Coffee?  Golf?  Football?  There's a fabric for that!  Cut, sew and get them ready to go.

Gather fabrics to cut.
(Photos above with golf, football and herbs are cut to 5 x 5;  a 5" square.  Photo shown above with mug is 4.5 inch square.) Cut them as big as you would like.

Cut 2 (inner and outer) squares at 5 inches each.
Cut 2 squares of 100% cotton batting

Layer the fabrics placing the outer layers on top of the 100% cotton.  Fabrics should be facing right side to right side.

Sew around the four sides of the square leaving open a small portion of the square so that you can turn it right side out.  Cut the corners of the squares to reduce bulk once turned.

Using 1/8" seam allowance, sew around all four sides of the square.  Sew an X across the fabric - from corner to corner- to prevent shifting and shrinking of inner batting layer.

That's it!  Make a few more; 4 or 6 create a nice set in a matter of minutes!  Bundle them together with raffia and you're good to go!  These fabric coasters can be machine washed.  Lay flat to dry.
